Saturday saw Cllr Andrew Burns heading along to the Tynecastle High School Centenary Summer Fair.
The fair was part of a full year of centenary celebrations at the school, which was founded in 1912. A calendar of centenary events is available here.
The Shandon Food Group was one of many local organisations which participated in the event, which was a great success for the school and its community.

Cycling to breakfast
Edinburgh Labour councillors, including Fountainbridge/Craiglockhart's Andrew Burns and Forth's Cammy Day, took part in Spokes' Bike Breakfast on Wednesday, cycling with groups from their constituencies to the City Chambers quadrangle.
Transport Convener Lesley Hinds spoke at the event and Lothian and Borders Police had a stall doing free bike security coding. With the sun shining, it was the best attended Bike Breakfast in several years.

From the Gala Days in Leith, Gorgie/Dalry and Clermiston/Drumbrae, to the Craiglockhart Primary School Summer Fair and the Southside Community Centre Jubilee Tea Party - fun was had, money was raised, and communities got together.
Edinburgh Labour folk plan to be involved in lots more community events happening soon - please keep an eye on our Community Events page. Why not come along and join us?

Digging in together
On Sunday, Edinburgh Labour Leader Councillor Andrew Burns got stuck in with two community groups working to improve the city.
In the morning he joined other volunteers including our local organiser Hannah Lister at the Friends of Craiglockhart Woods and Nature Trail clean-up event, helping to keep this well-used amenity in good condition.
Later he and many other volunteers from the Shandon Local Food Group and other local organisations joined in at the Royal Edinburgh Community Garden drop-in.
The RECG is a fantastic community initiative giving people the opportunity to grow their own food and improve their health.

Edinburgh Moonwalk
Edinburgh Labour's Sarah Boyack MSP was joined by Dumfriesshire's Elaine Murray MSP as she took part in Edinburgh's Moonwalk on Saturday.
This was Sarah's third time taking part in the Moonwalk and the conditions definitely made it the most challenging yet. Despite the weather, the atmosphere at the walk was absolutely fantastic and, as always, the effort people went to with their outfits was hugely impressive. Thousands of women, and men, took part to raise money to fight breast cancer.
Sarah would like to thank everyone who sponsored her for their donations which spurred her on to complete the course in a personal best time! She also wants to point out that it's still possible to make a donation at http://www.justgiving.com/SarahBoyackMSP.

Working hard in Wardie Bay
On Saturday, councillors Vick Redpath and Cammy Day donned waterproof footwear and protective gloves and joined members and supporters of the Wardie Bay Residents Association to assist with the annual clean-up on the beach.
There were about two dozen volunteers and several dogs on the beach during the time they were there and more people came and went as the afternoon carried on.
The weather was pretty kind to those slaving away to make the beach more attractive and safer for all to enjoy. People were still joining in when Cammy and Vicki had to make their apologies and, rubbing their sore backs, left to do a stint at the Leith Gala.
